Summary of South Florida Drivers Issues

Date: 02/07/2024

Location: 700 NW 1st Ave Miami, FL 33136

Time: 4:30 - 5:45 pm

Attendees: Jurek Martinez, Jonathan Cruz, other Uber drivers and Uber executives

List of Issues

·       Direct problems with the Uber company (Uber Technologies Inc)

§  Manipulation of rates using the Initial Price strategy for company economic benefit only

We have managed to identify that Uber uses two types of fees to pay drivers. We have named these rates as

a.     Basic Rate. This fare is the minimum Uber pays a driver.

b.     Boosted tariff. This fare is an increased payment without a previous Surge available. This is used to avoid triggering Surge in the area.

When there is a Surge fare in a specific area, Uber uses the Basic Fare to aggregate the Surge increases.

§  When there is high demand for the service, Uber uses it for its own benefit, increasing costs to customers, but paying drivers very low rates. This is because Uber creates the lowest offer knowing that some driver is going to grab it. If we take a closer look at this process, it gives the impression of us being part of a hunger game and not a job, or they simply use their power to generate competition within the drivers’ needs.

§  The payments we are receiving in relation to time and distance are sometimes below $0.50 per mile and less than $0.10 per minute.

-       Miami and Broward are cities where car traffic has increased disproportionately for the past 7 years. This causes rides to take much longer (Uber has largely contributed to this problem)

-       Currently, rides as short as five miles during the 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. take up to 30 minutes between pickup and drop-off. These rides pay between $5 and $8 USD.

-       Long rides are paid for ridiculous amounts without taking into consideration the expense of returning the driver to his work area.

§  Since Dara Khosrowshahi made some Uber Eats services in June 2021, during a weekend, the company has tried to implant in drivers the idea of "how much do you earn per hour" when before Dara's start as CEO, our work was never valued by the hour. If we had priced it by the hour before Dara came along, back then only UberX drivers could bill up to $80 USD or more per hour before having to pay the 20% that Uber was entitled to, leaving us with an estimated $64 USD per hour *

§  Uber drivers must earn enough money to cover all the expenses they incur in this job. They must earn enough money to compensate for the risks they are subjected to whenever they sit behind the wheel. They must earn enough money so that those who work full-time can have their vacation days. They must earn enough money to ensure that their work tool (car) is always functional or in the event of replacement can be carried out without problems.

§  Our work cannot be valued by the hour because we are Independent Contractors where we offer 99% of the resources to carry out the work.

-       Uber does not own cars that are used to do the work.

-       Uber does not offer free tires to drivers.

-       Uber does not pay for commercial insurance or personal car insurance.

-       Uber does not pay for maintenance.

-       Uber does not pay for repairs.

      Uber Doesn't Cover Car Depreciation

Uber Doesn't Pay for Work-Related Hazards Properly

-       Uber does not pay for fuel or electric car charges.

-       Uber does not cover the cost of rental cars.

Uber does not pay enough to live and cover these mandatory expenses.

§  Uber has cleaned up the driver system with its aggressive changes *

Uber knows that acquiring new generations of drivers allows them to continue reducing the payments they make, as it is a process of adaptation and lack of knowledge.

-       Uber knows that those people who start to see cuts in their profits, the only option left to them is to quit.

Most drivers who started, founded, and supported Uber in its early days in the Miami

- Broward-WPB areas have decided to quit driving due to the cuts in earnings.

§  Uber takes advantage of the lack of knowledge and ignorance in some fields of the new generations of drivers *

-       Many drivers do not know that they can deny rides without being penalized.

Many drivers take all the rides for fear of being deactivated from the platform.

A large part of the drivers takes all the rides trying to raise the Pro-Blue, Gold, Platinum, and Daimond levels without knowing that they do not really represent any economic or material benefit. This is manipulated by Acceptance Levels and Cancellation Levels also.

New drivers say, "It is what it is" "It is what they offer" "It is what we should take, there is no other way."

-       Uber knows that the Florida market has a high rate of immigrants and needy people, which makes us an easy market to exploit.

Many drivers are unaware of the expenses that this type of work generates or the long-term costs.

As the first few months of work go by, many drivers come to understand that the cost of the resources invested is much higher in relation to the profits that the job generates. They manage to understand that there are no profits after some time.

-       The new drivers are unaware that for this type of work to be profitable we must set aside up to 30% of the profits generated daily to cover all the expenses the job or business incurs.

§  Uber has no limits on recruiting.

-       It has no limits on the number of drivers it recruits (as this does not generate high expenses for the company) They do not even impose category limits.

-       Uber's over-recruitment saturates the supply. This allows it to manage the cost of the market at will and generate competition.

-       Uber's over-recruitment creates traffic congestion that requires more time to complete rides.

Uber allows people coming from other states and other cities outside of South Florida to drive in Miami.

-       Uber maintains an unreasonable level of requirements to be able to drive on the platform. This widens the range of people who can be recruited to almost anyone who wants to drive for them.

§  High concentration of drivers in specific areas.

Due to Uber's unlimited recruitment, many drivers from all over the Miami metro area come to work in the busiest areas such as Miami Beach, Downtown Miami, and Wynwood.

-       While Uber continues to recruit and fill several South Florida cities, drivers are always going to turn to areas where there is the highest demand for work. Uber would be in a way completely undermining the supply market.

§  There is no market study or if there is, it is being used solely for the benefit of the company.

-       Each city in the USA has different characteristics. Every city and Rideshare market in the USA are different and should be studied properly. Solutions should be applied according to studies conducted.

If Uber is saturating the supply of the service, it is doing so aware of the collateral damage it is causing to drivers and their economy.

§  Complaints have been made to Uber for months about the use of mobile applications and devices that interrupt the flow of operations of the services.

-       The use of the MicroDroid mobile application (alters the operation of the Uber application by functioning as a Ride filter) Uber has created improvements in its application, but not to prevent the use of MicroDroid, but so that the level of acceptance of drivers is affected (this is a sign that they are not interested in the damage it causes to drivers)

-       This application in airport waiting lots causes severe damage. Imagine if there were one hundred drivers in the queue using this app and another fifty not using it. Those who are using the app will have access to the highest-paying rides, while the other fifty will be receiving only very low-cost rides.

-       Use of Fake GPS. Airport queues are constantly being circumvented. The Premier and Premier SUV service Queues do not move and are dominated only by those people who use Fake GPS. How do they do it? They take a ride that is not going more than 25 minutes away, when the driver completes the ride, they get disconnected from the Uber app. After 7 minutes they open the Fake GPS, enter the location of the airport lot, and turn on the Uber application. Uber puts them in the queue with Priority Access. Meanwhile, the driver is driving back at a high rate of speed.

-       The use of antennas to knock down the signals and grab the best rides. This practice is back on the market and is generating profits of up to $500 USD per day for the drivers who use it. On a regular basis, generating these profits in 1 day is not possible. Events can generate winnings of up to $1000 or more in a single day for those using the antennas. The cost of the antennas is being marketed at $650 USD in South Florida and other states.

§  The use of various types of drugs and other substances in the airport parking lot

-       This is another issue that has been reported to Uber for months and they have not done anything about it.

-       Marijuana, Cocaine, Crack, among others, are consumed daily in the parking lots of Miami and Fort Lauderdale

-       Drug sales are taking place inside the parking lots. Wherever drugs are consumed, there is commercialization.

There have been cases of drivers driving under the influence of alcohol.

-       Uber only delegates responsibility to customers. If a customer does not notice anything, they cannot report it. Sometimes, if a customer sees something, they often feel embarrassed to report the driver and do not do it.

§  Lack of control over drivers and their actions.

§  Lack of control over the conditions of the cars. There are no inspectors to monitor this problem.

§  Uber has been promoting a culture of disaster in the Rideshare market for several years.

-       As I mentioned earlier, not all markets are equal. Florida is a complex state. Here a company that toughens its conditions is not going to encourage people to protest, people are going to find a way to survive at any cost. Even if they must do fraud to obtain benefits, is their culture.

-       This has led to an excessive increase in turning rides in cash. Drivers are underpaid, they grab Uber customers and offer them the ride in cash at a 20% discount.

This applies to all service categories.

This applies even to long-distance rides.

Many drivers drive aggressively, do not follow the law, and do not obey traffic signals.

-       Many drivers fail to maintain a formal or professional appearance to perform the job.

-       Fake accounts on Uber Driver and Uber Eats. This has been reported for months as well.

Identities are being stolen to create functional 14-day accounts for Uber Eats (UBER knows about this practice)

Some people are creating Uber Eats accounts and renting them on a weekly or monthly basis to people without papers, without legal immigration status in the country or people whose account was previously suspended (UBER knows about this practice)

-       Some people are creating Uber Driver accounts and renting or selling them to people who have been licensed for less than 1 year and people who do not have a license or car insurance.

-       Many drivers are removed from the platform unfairly and for no apparent solid reason. Drivers often do not receive information as to why they were deactivated. Uber may use its legal terms and conditions to support its actions. These actions can be understood as a mechanism used to simply replace generations of drivers.

-       These actions show that we have no protection whatsoever and since Uber dominates the market, they can simply eliminate those they understand from their system and on the other hand continue to saturate the offer with new drivers.

-       On many occasions, even if drivers have sufficient evidence of incidents with customers, where the driver is not at fault, Uber still deactivates their accounts. We believe this may be because it costs them more to perform incident checks and account reactivations than to activate new accounts. In our driver group we have evidence of several unfairly deactivated accounts

§  Uber customer service is an in-app decoration.

Uber's customer service representatives do not help at all. They work like an answering machine, repeating the same thing without offering real support to customers and drivers.

Sometimes reps do not pay attention to what drivers or customers are explaining because they do not have full knowledge of the English language.

-       They ignore arguments and make immediate resolutions, leaving drivers and clients without a solution to their problems.

The image of any company starts with the quality of the Customer Service it offers.

-       We have drivers in our group who have called Customer Service to claim differences between the Up-Front Price offered and what they have received after completing the trip. At times, Customer Service has threatened drivers that if they continue to call to complain about payment problems, their accounts will be deactivated.

§  We are seeing customers with ratings ranging from 3.30 to 4.50 using the Uber Rider app. These customers are at a high risk for any driver. Why aren't they disabled? These customers would have to pay higher fees for services due to the high risk they represent to the company and drivers.

§  What resources does Uber use so that during high demands they increase the amount of their profits?

§  We want to ask Uber to eliminate the need for drivers who already have commercial insurance to pay for insurance provided by the company.

§  Uber can NOT project itself to cover all areas of cities since to achieve this it would have to put at least half of each city to drive.

Increased fares are a necessary evil to balance drivers by area.

§  We have noticed that Uber is looking to remove the Surge Fare from the system. If Uber succeeds in implementing this change, they will completely dominate the system and cost mainly for high demands.

§  Trip cancellations due to passenger non-compliance

-       When a driver cancels a trip because the number of passengers exceeds the allowed number in the car, the driver does not receive any financial compensation. They are subject to wait the required time and cancel to receive the cancellation fee.

-       Drivers are not financially compensated when they cancel a trip where customers have minor children and do not request a child seat. On top of that, drivers are coerced by Uber. They are subject to wait the required time and cancel to receive the cancellation fee.

Drivers are not financially compensated when they cancel a trip because it was requested to transport children under the age of fifteen unaccompanied by an adult. On top of that, drivers are coerced by Uber. They are subject to wait the required time and cancel to receive the cancellation fee.

If a driver refuses to complete a trip due to a breach by customers, drivers do not receive any financial compensation. They are subject to wait the required time and cancel to receive the cancellation fee.

§  Discounts for Uber customers

It has been noted that Uber applies the discounts they offer to customers to the total amount that the customer was supposed to pay. It is none of the drivers' business to offer Uber discounts to customers. If Uber decides to offer a customer a discount, it must deduct it from Uber earnings, not from the cost of the ride.

§  Uber sacrifices customers' time

-       Customer wait times for Uber service are being affected because Uber can spend any amount of time trying to find a driver who will accept the lowest fare Uber is paying. They prefer to sacrifice customers' time rather than pay more for the service to drivers.

·       Problems with the Uber app for drivers

1.     Manipulation of information

§  The Radar System

a.         It does not show the number of drivers receiving the same offer. It used to be displayed and was replaced by a blue dot. *

b.         Displays manipulable message such as "Another driver matched this request." (Why it just does not go away or says "It's no longer available") *

c.         It interferes with the driver's attention while driving. High-Risk Handling Feature

§  Driver Tier Program

a.         About 60% of the products offered under these programs are freely accessible without the need to have a driving level with Uber to obtain them *

b.         Some of the programs offer no real benefits

c.         This tier system lends itself to persuading new drivers and prompting them to believe that it is their duty to maintain a high acceptance rate for the purpose of leveling up *

d.         None of the programs offer economic or material goods that help drivers' tough economy

§  Statements

a.         Uber eliminated from the system from 2014-2017 backwards the number of hours worked and in the statement on the phone the number of rides.

b.         Uber made it harder to get access to see what the customer pays (many drivers have little knowledge of how to use the technology and access to important information)

§  Earnings Trends

a.              Charts and symbols do not correlate with the possible winnings to be made. Charts and symbols are used for the sole purpose of making drivers believe that they can generate profits when really what Uber is looking for is to have drivers on the street. *

b.              Uber constantly uses Push notifications to motivate drivers to drive to airports and thus avoid increasing what it pays drivers due to high demand. *

§  Augments, Bonuses, and Missions

1.     Bonuses

a.         The bonus+ system is offered per trip for 1 hour, which can be times when drivers do not drive. This does not generate any benefit for drivers.

b.         The bonuses are as low as $1.50 USD, which does not represent any significant profit and even creates discontent among drivers

c.         The bonus system is created to persuade, not to generate real economic improvements for drivers

2.     Quests

a.         The amounts offered in the Quests are another offense to the drivers' sense of need, which sometimes equates to an extra $0.50 USD per ride

b.         The number of rides required for some Quests are sometimes impossible to complete, prompting drivers to drive without even knowing if they will be able to complete it *

3.     Surge

a.         The highest Increases rates on the map are offered in inaccessible areas always including lakes, rivers, and the even sea areas *

b.         Sometimes high Surge fares can only be obtained if drivers go under the symbol with the amount, not by area range. This means that the higher Surge area is reduced to 2 square meters surface *

c.         Surge times per area are often lasting less than 15 seconds. *

d.         Uber increased the requirements to generate a Surge trigger. This results in an extremely high delay in the increase in the per-demand rate *

e.         Uber is handling the high demands for its own benefit. It is charging high fees to customers and trying to pay drivers the bare minimum.

f.          Surge fares are no longer real. This was explained in the section where Uber's fares paid to drivers are discussed *

g.         When a driver has a Surge and grabs a ride and the customer cancels the ride, the driver loses the Surge

h.         When a driver has a Surge and grabs a ride, but must cancel because the customer never showed up, the driver loses the Surge

i.          If there is a high demand and the number of cars in the area does not grab rides because are not paid for properly, Uber does not raise fares paid to drivers.

2.     Issues with the Uber Driver mobile app

§  Multiple people can access the driver account, but not be connected from multiple devices. This is not even good and should not be allowed. Each driver account should be allocated to only one device. This can be fixed by:

a.         Registering the device's CID with the Uber account. When there are multiple CID changes on an Uber account, this may mean that the account is not being used properly.

b.         Registering the device's MAC address with the Uber account. When there are multiple MAC address changes on an Uber account, this may mean that the account is not being used properly.

c.         This security measure also provides a layer of extra protection from accessing the driver's account from an unregistered device.

d.         This prevents someone using other person account under their consent from being able to access from another device to do the Face ID scan

§  If a driver wishes to use another device at any time, the system must remove the user from the previous device and remove the user's record.

§  Updates to the Uber mobile app are not mandatory. This allows drivers to use mobile apps such as MicroDroid or Fake GPS to circumvent the operation of the Uber app. This can be corrected by:

a.         Limiting the versions of devices where the Uber Driver app can be used

b.         Forcing all devices to update the Uber Driver app (To date it is optional)

c.         Enforcing security measures to prevent the use of these mobile applications. This can be done by detecting whether Mock Location and Developer Mode are enabled.

-       Before 2017, Uber deactivated all accounts that were using mobile apps that tried to circumvent the Uber app operation.

Accounts that currently use MicroDroid to automate trip selection can be easily identified because instead of denying rides, they get disconnected from Uber. Action that cannot be performed without using MicroDroid.

-       These applications are affecting drivers who do not use these systems in airport queues, generating long waits and often accessing low-paid rides.

-       Since none of these actions affect Uber financially, they have been allowed to pass, which has created a culture of disorder.

§  Uber is quoting rides for routes that are not the ones given to the driver.

-       When Uber shows a ride to the driver, it shows a time and distance that are different when the driver grabs it *

§  Sometimes Uber offers rides that when completed the fare shown at the beginning is not what is paid to the driver (it may be a system error, but it looks like intentional manipulation)

-       This is solved by adding the trip information with the cost to the customer section. Currently, once you grab the trip, you do not see the cost until you complete the trip.

§  The filter to and from does not work properly in several areas of Miami. The filter works according to Uber's needs, not to the convenience or need of drivers.

§  When Uber calculates customer rides.

-       It does so on the shortest, but longest-timed routes, not the longest, shortest-time routes. If the driver decides to take the faster but longer road, he is not financially compensated properly.

§  Tips are not being processed properly.

-       Some drivers are taking up to 3 days to receive the tips they are given; others are reporting that they do not receive the full tips. Evidence is being collected.

§  Events in Miami should only be shown to Miami drivers.

Showing the events to all WPB and Broward drivers drives hundreds of drivers to come to Miami creating chaos at the events.

-       Due to the high level of road traffic, we are currently able to make only 1 ride from events. This is because Uber needs 20 000 thousand drivers for 20 000 riders.

§  Uber needs to stop forcing customers during events to go to specific locations to grab their ride. At Hard Rock Stadium, for example, Uber forces customers to go to designated lots, wherever they are. This creates big problems because drivers.

They do not know exactly where the customer is because is not at the pickup location.

-       It leads to an excess of trip cancellations during big events.

-       Causes waste of time.

-       It causes a lot of confusion.

-       Economic losses to the company

-       Economic losses to the drivers

-       The more Uber complicates the pickup process, the more they encourage drivers to convert rides into cash.

§  Uber must show in the summary of each trip the information of what each customer pays and the deductions that are made.

-       Currently they do not show in the mobile app all the breakdown *

§  Miami Airport receives millions of tourist travelers every year. Uber has been reported to improve the way customers request rides at the airport. Improvements can be made:

-       Let travelers know through an in-app prompt that to request a ride they must first go to the pickup area.

-       Once outside, let riders know to look for a black sign with the Door # and the Arrivals or Departures level.

-       On occasion, several Miami residents or people who know the airport say that Uber does not allow them to put the exact location and forces them to select only Upper Level or only Lower Level

-       This causes problems of having to look for a space within the airport to wait for the customer and this is not allowed, having to leave the airport and come back again, go to a different level, waste of time, loss of resources, cancellations, etc.

§  Put back the photos of the customers so that you can identify the passengers.

-       If the customer is requesting the ride for someone else and did not notify them in the app, the driver has the full right to cancel the ride and refuse to complete it for safety reasons.

§  Reduce waiting times. Currently, UberX only has a total wait time of 14 minutes. That is abusive. As you move up the category, the wait time increases. Why does it need to be resolved?

-       Many customers abuse this time.

      Generates economic losses for drivers.

-       When a customer requests an Uber service, they must be ready to be picked up. Do not request an Uber when you are still in the shower.

-       Today's volume of drivers on the road provides near-instant availability to customers.

If a driver makes two rides for $5 USD each and must wait on each one for 14 minutes, this equates to 28 minutes of wait time. Plus, pickup and travel time, a driver's potential earnings are $10 USD in 1 hour before deducting expenses.

-       Uber must ask each customer before requesting the service "If you are ready to be picked up" or if you need more time.

-       Reduce wait times to a maximum of 5 minutes in total for UberX and add 1 minute in scale to each category.

-       Prompt customers and educate them to request the ride when they are ready to be picked up. Do not force drivers to wait for long periods of time and on top of that, they are poorly paid for waiting.

§  Travel reservations

-       When a driver grabs a reservation within 40 minutes of pickup, the driver does not receive any other ride offers, including rides to or near the pickup. This forces drivers to make one trip in practically 2 hours. If so, the costs of reservations should be much better compensated.

§  Uber forces drivers at the Fort Lauderdale airport to start driving to the airport.

Drivers can only receive a ride request without knowing whether the ride is feasible for them when they are driving to the airport. If the ride a driver receives is not convenient, the driver may deny it, but must also return to the parking lot. The airport is 3.3 miles from the lot *

§  In the airports Queue

When a driver cancels three rides, the system virtually takes you out of line. Stop showing you the number of cars in line. To be able to see the position in the row again, you must get disconnected, close the app, and reopen it. An awkward and tedious process

§  Uber sometimes refuses to pay drivers the Increased Fares added in the Starting Price

There are drivers who receive rides, and these are priced with Surge fare included, but once the drivers finish the rides, they are not being paid the Surge fares. When drivers contact Customer Service to complain, they are told that the Surge Fare was removed because they were using a Fake GPS when in fact they are not.

§  Small amounts of funds are disappearing from drivers' account balances, something that often becomes imperceptible.

·       Problems in the Rideshare Market

§  Market competition between Rideshare platforms cannot be based on service costs alone.

-       This affects drivers' earnings. There are several companies betting on the resources of drivers at the lowest cost. The competition should be focused on the quality of the service, the quality of the cars and the features offered by each application.

-       The company that pays its drivers better, controls the drivers it acquires on its platform, and limits the number of drivers appropriately can create a strong fleet of drivers focused on providing quality service and ensuring economic stability for both parties. This right now is a high-risk disorder that we drivers are paying for in spades.

§  The disproportionate presence of drivers on the streets is creating greater risks in the market.

-       Inexperienced drivers, with little driving time, without the necessary skills to drive for long hours and without knowing the cities are doing barbarities on the streets being a potential danger for the company.

§  The costs of having large numbers of drivers on the road are being paid for by the drivers themselves.

-       The higher the risk in the Rideshare market, the higher the cost we will have to pay to insurance companies. The risk increases, driven by Uber irrationally hiring new drivers or inviting old drivers to reactivate.

§  Extremely low pays in high cost of living cities

-       Car costs, personal auto insurance costs, parts costs, utility costs, the cost of living have been on the rise since the end of Covid-19 and Uber continues to further reduce the numbers it pays drivers by focusing purely on generating positive and growing numbers for the company. This is abuse, it has no other word to be described.

§  Uber is losing customers because of its practices.

-       Many drivers are creating their own customer networks outside of Uber because Uber pays poorly.

-       Many customers prefer to be benevolent and pay their drivers full money. This is without measuring the risks they face (it is South Florida's culture)

Uber is failing in its actions, which gives room for other companies like InDrive to be looking to enter the market. Any company that studies Uber and has the economic potential to expand across the U.S. in less than 24 months can give it some tough competition.

§  At events in Miami

-       It takes us 20 or 30 minutes to get to customers and then another 20 or 30 minutes to get out of the area. This only causes losses. There is no flow of rides where multiple rides can be made even if they are short distances. By the time we completed one ride they were gone. This is a sign of the great saturation of the service.

§  There is great concern about what will happen when the low season arrives if the high season is barely felt.

-       What will Uber do to keep its profits up when the season is down? Pay drivers less?

Uber is not getting adapted properly to the type of market; it is only adapting its economy to any circumstance regardless of the damage it may cause.

§  Uber client’s retention problems

Why, if there are problems related to customer retention, does Uber not eliminate all the problems that cause it? Why doesn't Uber create new customer retention tools?

§  Insurance costs to high

Why is it that if Uber is not the one who covers the costs of insurance, it does not reduce the risks in the service that lead to the increase in commercial insurance rates, which affects drivers 100%

The deductible cost is too high for the price we are paying. Even a $1000 deductible continues to be too high when any damage caused by a client to the car must be handled by a insurance claim instead of making riders responsible for the damage caused to the car.

Drivers are not allowed to confront riders to get the damages paid by them. At some point this is going to explode and can cause problems for the company and the drivers.

§  Requirements to drive too inclusive.

-       Why doesn't Uber strengthen the requirements to drive on the platform?

§  Why doesn't Uber prioritize drivers who reside in each city?

Why does Uber not guarantee better profits for them, and provide economic stability while limiting the number of drivers?

§  Uber is taking revenue out of the cities, state and maybe the country.

Between 50 and 65% of the revenue generated is divided by big companies. Uber and commercial insurance companies. The other 50 to 35% that remains is distributed among a very large number of drivers, which does not allow us to see an economic improvement. On the contrary, it is getting progressively worse.

§  What guarantees do drivers have against Rideshare companies?

-       None. Uber in almost 10 years that it has been in the market, they have focused on offering us drivers no guarantees or protection, which makes us vulnerable and exploitable. They have taken advantage of HB221 with an absolute loophole to make the market and us what they wanted.

-       If Uber or any other company decides to pay us at $0.25 a mile and $0.05 a minute, there is nothing stopping them from doing so.

§  Uber is playing on the need of many people in South Florida.

-       Uber is exploiting the resources of all drivers regardless of the repercussions of their actions.

-       Uber is indirectly forcing drivers to work up to 80 hours a week, with the biggest profits going to the companies.

§  This market is not an hourly or time-based market.

-       Uber is manipulating drivers. We drivers provide all the resources needed to get the job done, you are just the brokers of this service.

-       Uber cannot limit our profits.

-       We work to earn what we believe is right or what we understand costs the investment of our resources, risks, and time.

§  Uber relies entirely on drivers.

If as few as 50% of drivers decide to stop working for Uber and work for Lyft, Uber has no options to repair that loss, or at least it will cost billions to repair that loss. By this I mean that we have choices, companies do not, which shows that we are a necessary evil to the company.

§  Uber has long coerced drivers

-       Through subtle intimidation mechanisms, Uber has long forced drivers to feel like they could lose access to their jobs if they don't meet acceptance rates or x number of rides.

3.     Conclusions

Uber is like a dictatorial system and the drivers are the inhabitants of their country. This company wants to control everything, what we do, what we think, how we act, and how much we earn without providing any resources. They live off our resources and our effort. When problems arise and responsibilities call, Uber simply ignores some problems that happen since it is not in their interest to generate expenses to solve those problems and take care of the responsibilities. We want to professionally ask Uber's CEO and other members of the company to stop lying to the public that drivers earn 30% more than before or that we make an estimated $25 per hour. The only thing he achieves with comments of this type is to make a fool of himself in front of hundreds of thousands of drivers and customers who know the current situation of drivers around the world, not only in the USA. The scope of this problem is global. It would be better for Uber to start organizing all the mess it is causing and prevent other states from generating changes that are far from favorable for the company and even sometimes for the drivers themselves because they do not know how to express to their local governments how they can correct the problems they are facing. The Uber Ride and Uber Eats market is losing confidence in the company, the drivers are losing trust and respect towards the Rideshare companies because they are very clear that their only interests are economic.

For all the problems mentioned above we have all the necessary solutions. These solutions would seek to normalize, stabilize, and balance the market favoring Rideshare companies and drivers. It is not in our interest at this time to share the action plan that we have prepared to seek a change since it can be sabotaged by Uber. No change Uber can bring about after this meeting is guaranteed unless it is created by a legal agreement between the company, the local government, and the drivers. We are not able to ask for changes, we are demanding changes, and we will seek them under a peaceful method or under pressure.

Definition: Topics marked with * are topics that describe the types of manipulations used by Uber towards drivers. These practices should not be permitted by any Rideshare company.
